The Beginning Of Toby G Photography
Share
In the year 2020, an unexpected turn of events led to me having an abundance of free time. I decided to make the best use of this time by pursuing one of my passions - photography. I began by creating handmade greeting cards using some of my own photographs. I was pleasantly surprised when a shop in Hastings offered to stock my cards. This was the beginning of my journey towards developing my photography skills and building my own business.
As I gained more confidence in my abilities, I decided to enroll in a GCSE Photography course. I also designed my own website to showcase my work and started researching other products I could offer to develop my business skills. I was particularly interested in exploring the business side of things, which had always been a fascination for me.
I created a Hastings calendar featuring some of my best photographs and advertised it online. I was thrilled when I sold over 300 copies in just three weeks. This success motivated me to capture more stunning shots from various locations such as Eastbourne, Brighton, Isle of Wight, and London. I then designed a Brighton calendar, which turned out to be a massive hit as it sold out within hours of its release. I was amazed at how quickly my following was growing.
To cater to the increasing demand, I started offering more products such as colouring books, jigsaws, mugs, and postcards. My products were so popular that I sold them all over the world. The success of my products caught the attention of many journalists, resulting in my work being featured in several publications such as the BBC, Eastbourne Herald, Bexhill Observer, and The Brighton Argus.
Since then, I have continued to pursue my passion for photography and business. I have experimented with new products and even embarked on a journey across Europe to capture some breathtaking photographs. The journey has been an incredible learning experience, enabling me to hone my photography skills and business acumen. I am excited about what the future holds and look forward to exploring new avenues and opportunities.
